INSURANCE-COVERED BREAST PUMPS

Did you know that under the Affordable Care Act your health insurance plan must cover the cost of a breast pump? Learn how to start the process of finding out which pumps and accessories your plan covers, as well as how to order and receive your pump.

How to order an insurance covered breast pump

Order your pump between 28-34 weeks of pregnancy

Option 1

Contact your insurance company directly for a list of pumps that they will cover. Then order directly through the manufacturer’s website. You will need a prescription from your doctor or midwife.

Option 2

Order through a website that simplifies the process. While several of these websites exist, the one I most highly recommend is :
www.Aeroflowbreastpumps.com

  • From the home page, click “Qualify”
  • Enter insurance information and doctor/midwife information
  • A list of insurance-covered pumps will be provided. Select one from the list and allow Aeroflow to contact your doctor or midwife for the necessary prescription.
  • Your pump will then be delivered directly to your home.
  • Be sure to check to see if additional parts or accessories are covered as well!
